Al & ZackHeading North…

Last year while wandering the SCI Show (Safari Club International) in Reno with a couple of friends I was arm twisted into purchasing a Caribou Hunt to take place in early September in far northern Quebec.  Normally I do most of my big game hunting in my old home state of Montana,  with all my accoutrements close at hand, stored away in my truck and my TruckVault.  Getting ready for this hunt takes a totally different preparation procedure.  Our Outfitter, Arctic Adventures, (www.arcticadventures.ca) does a great job of laying out what and what not to bring simplifying the process.

This hunt allows for the taking of two Caribou, Ptarmigan and some fishing tossed in for good measure.  Should I be skilled enough I will take a Caribou with my bow and one with my rifle.   Since I take this seriously I have been shooting the bow nearly everyday and have been to the range with my rifle to assure myself that it will handle the task at hand.  My Black Lab Zach will certainly not understand why he can’t make this trip but we will make that up to him later on.

Good planning and being prepared makes for a good trip.   Now is a great time to make sure you are ready for your hunting outings this year.  Of course, start by protecting your most important items in your TruckVault.

Upon my return I will update you as to the success.  Have a great season and be safe.
