“You didn’t shoot anything?”
When I returned from Montana everyone wanted to know what I had bagged. A successful trip does not necessarily include carnage. Ralph, Ben (pictured here) and I were hunting for trophies, this suggests you look at and pass by many every day. That does not say we did not see the one(s) we wanted. Nope! We all saw the monster muley somewhere near the 30 inch spread walking in deep snow across the canyon. Yes, we should have taken the long shot but chose to move closer. He did not become a monster by being dumb.
It was 10 days of hunting hard from dawn until dark, Spam Sandwiches and Sardines with Dinty Moore and Pumpkin Pie for Thanksgiving. Ten days with guys that I like, can’t beat that for a good time.
The older we get the more we appreciate having good equipment. I thought I might just mention a few items that I discovered that are exceptional. When hunting the high country in 1 to 2 feet of snow I wore LaCrosse Alphaburly Sport Boots with 18 inch tops. These lightweight boots were great, the extra height coupled with the ability to tighten up the top kept me warm and dry. Another item that I found to be exceptional is the Surefire LED Flashlight. These guys are small which allows them to fit in your day pack but they have incredible power. A long secure clip allows you to attach the light to the brim of your hat giving you hands free mobility. Not a new discovery but I would be remiss not to mention the Reunel Bumper complete with Warn Winch. Yes, we put it to good use. After slugging our way through drifts and snow getting to the high country we slid the big Chevrolet off the track on our way out. We may have been there a long time had we not had the Warn Winch. Of course the best equipment of all was our TruckVault, as we say “Safe Secure Storage” gives you convenience and piece of mind.
As always we are happy to hear from you. Send us hunting photos, your TruckVault Photos or if you have found a piece of equipment that makes the outdoor experience more enjoyable and comfortable send that information our way as well.
Merry Christmas & Happy Hunting,
